Helger Aaresild’s Debut Exhibition “A Brush Went Wandering”
Helger Aaresild has worked with various forms of writing, including translating books related to modern-day Eastern mysticism. Back in the Soviet era, he even published a newspaper about UFO mysteries — a topic that continues to interest him and is reflected in some of his artworks. He has also contributed to Maaleht and the magazine Tervendaja.
A couple of years ago, Aaresild turned to drawing as a means of self-exploration and understanding his existence more deeply. As he is only taking his first steps in the art world, participating in an art group in Nõmme has been a helpful part of the journey. According to the artist, he has tried to capture fleeting, lived experiences on paper. For him, making images has become a kind of visual journaling, where the titles of the works support their content — and vice versa.
