Lars-Henrik Gahmberg
"My
style has been expressionist from the very start. It suits to my
nature. I often get ideas for my paintings from other people's
memories which have impressed me somehow, historical events have also
made their way into my work. The result has almost always been
completely and utterly abstract. Sometimes people's faces appear on
my paintings as if they were forced to - and I can't say what is the
purpose of that."
Lars-Henrik
Gahmberg (1928-2020) has graduated from the
Finnish Academy of Art in 1951. In 1956-1980 he worked as a graphic
artist at the Erva-Latvala advertisment office. Gahmberg has
participated in exhibitions in Finland and Sweden since 1974. His
works have been purchased by: the State of Finland, the Amos Anderson
Museum, Swedish Cultural Fund, the cities of Espoo and Hanko, and
Donald Kenne art collection in New York.
