Exhibition of mouth paintings by Allar Tael

Allar Tael is one of the three Estonian artists who have become members of the international Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists. He joined the association in 2019, after having made art for two years. Allar started drawing twelve years after the life-changing car accident that left him unable to move. Despite the twists and turns of his fate, Allar’s drawings are full of brightness, joy, and fantasy, and they are uplifting for the audiences.

Allar Tael mostly depicts nature, drawing inspiration from documentaries. In his works you will find animals and birds as well as breath-taking views of nature. When Allar is not drawing, he is already composing new works in his mind: planning the colour of the sky, the earth. Mouth drawing or painting gives a special perspective to his works – the artist needs to turn the picture several times to work it through.

The Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists of the World was established at the initiative of the German mouth painter Arnulf Erich Stegmann in Liechtenstein in 1957. Its goal is to bring together and support people who are forced to create in this way. Of the three Estonian members of the association, Allar Tael is the only one to draw and paint with mouth and, reportedly, the only mouth painter in Estonia.

The exhibition is supported by Estonian Cultural Endowment.
