Margus Meinart - Falling in Love
Margus Meinart is an artist from Tartu who paints Viljandi. His previous exhibition at the Kondas Centre was called „Roaming“ (in Estonian „Kondamine“, a pun – Kondas-kondamine): a result of roaming about, looking for colours and navigating between different genres of painting. The current exhibition „Falling in Love“ is maybe the first phase of a longer relationship with Viljandi and, as lovers do, everything is seen through a romantic haze of love …
Even if Viljandi is expressed in these paintings by right angles, strong colours and a clear handling of light and shadow, it is still an embellished view of a little town, full of miniature turrets, situated high on the shore of a lake.
It is clear that such a poetic narrative brings joy to especially the people of Viljandi.
