Aleksander
Bushuyev
(b. 1965) is a self-taught artist residing in Pskov (Russia) and a member of
the well-known Russian art group Mitki. Dmitri Shagin, one of the
leading members of Mitki, told Bushuyev at the beginning of his
artistic career, “Sasha, keep away from courses and schools. You’ve
got something in you; try to develop it. Do not ever study! Most
people are well educated and taught; but that is terribly disturbing
for us, the Mitkis!”
Aleksander
Bushuyev is free in his creative efforts: he does not rule out the
possibility that he might create sculptures or produce films one day.
However, he definitely rules out politics, militarism and
business.
Painting
is like rock’n’roll for him. Just like there are three basic
chords in rock’n’roll, also Bushuyev mostly uses three colours in
his works.
(Mitki is a St Petersburg - based Soviet and Russian art group which comprises about 20 artists. They do all kinds of fine arts)
