Veronika Garanina, a Muscovite by birth, was educated and also lives and works now in Moscow. In addition to art schools, she has studied in the studios of several outstanding artists. Veronika’s artworks are in painting, graphic art, ceramics, interior design projects, book illustration, textile art and original doll making. She uses a wide range of techniques and materials in her works.

In recent years, she has made textile compositions (appliqué and embroidery) and used these in book illustration.

These textile compositions are part of her art programme, giving an opportunity to diversfy the means of expression, make use of textures, shades and, often, fabric patterns.  In these works, three elements work together: the base fabric (usually canvas, grey or bleached, home-woven; but there are exceptions) gives the basis for the work; the fabric patches determine the colour scale and create memory images, and the embroidery joins the appliqués to the basis, elaborates the pattern and adds the necessary accents.
