Arnold Laugus (1917-2013) worked as a teacher for over 30 years, 1944-63 at the Jakob Westholm Gymnasium in Tallinn and 1963-76 at the Tallinn Pelgulinna Secondary School. He started his endeavors in art after retirement, he mainly painted landscapes, but he has created some works which are inspired by Estonian mythology and history. He became an honorary member of Estonian Artists' Union - that is uniquely remarkable for a self-taught naivist artist.
